MoNtHs BeFoRe

Before my next Blog.. I would like to apologize because of the fact that this post was suppose to be 'posted' a long time ago. But I haven't got the time (okay, okay!! I was LAZY to do it.. sheesh!! ;p). So here's the continuation of my NCLEX-RN ADVENTURE~

Taking the NCLEX-RN Exam takes time... It can't be done in just a month. So me and my friend Jhosel took our leave from the hospital we're working for. I told you before that I am currently working at a Special Employment Program by our Cong. right.. and so we need to file a leave of absence from work. As for our review, our program caters to free review for NCLEX and IELTS as we are aiming to go out of the country to work! So we took the offer... We were told that we couldn't work and review at the same time so we took our leave of absence from March 2010. By the 1st week, we waited for the review center to call us about our review schedules, but there were none. By the last week they called and let us attend the last session of the February-March group, a two (2) day lecture. That was it... they told us to wait and be contacted again for the next batch of reviewers. But the reviewer told us that the next class would be held by June and that we must postpone our exam. We were appalled, we took the leave of absence for March but we did nothing but wait. And there's more, that we need to give them additional 11K for the lectures because the fund that the SEP gave them is only 10K each participant and it only covered the internet review that they provided. We thought it was free! And agian we were shocked about the news. But me and Jhosel were determined to take the exam by June.. By hook or by crook we will take it by June 2010. So what we did was study harder and make use of what reviewers we have. I, for starters, used my old reviewer from my college days and for the Local Board exam. We began to really study hard and be focused by April 2010.

The pic above is our wall.. i posted so post-it on this particular wall.. it looked like a collage! When I took it out just this month, my mom said, "Oh! We have a wall?" LOL

By May 2010 we already paid for our exam and got our ATTs (Authority To Test). A funny story about how i almost did not get my ATT.. Me and Jhosel registered at the Pearsonvue at the same time. Jhosel using her computer at her house and me using my laptop. I forgot to bring my adapter with me and my battery is low. We were processing out accounts at Pearsonvue when suddenly a blackout came and the internet went down, duh.. of course..=P So we waited until the power was up. When it came, my account did not process it yet so i must RE-TYPE all those information and such.. whaaaaa.. what a bummer.. but yes.. I typed it again. But as i said my battery was calling my attention.. it said 20% at one time then it was 10%.. So i typed faster to utilize my remaining power. AND THAT WAS A BIG/MAJOR MISTAKE!! I was so careless in typing that i typed the wrong E-MAIL ADDRESS!! Jhosel got her ATT and i was wonder why it was taking mine long enough to be sent.. so i checked my account and dun dun dun dun... I typed my e-mail address with a .@yahoo.com with a "." before @! And that was why mine was not sent.. In that minute that i found out I was panicking.. because I already paid the $200 that my aunt lend me. I don't want to have another $200 debt. Another reason was that we cannot take the exam if we don't have out ATT (even though you paid already)!! And so I was sweating like crazy and my palms were cold, I can't think properly.. It was a good thing that Jhosel was with me. After that panic attack, I was alright again. I thought of the customer service that they provided and ask them to send me my ATT at my correct e-add.. but it was 6pm them and they'll probably look into it in the morning.. whhhaa.. the pressure.. I had a long night that day. I couldn't sleep thinking about that ATT.. Good if I haven't paid yet.. but I did.. I borrowed my aunt's credit card for this and I messed it up. I SUPER prayed that night, I think I called all the Saints and all the different image of Mary. I also seek help from my deceases dad for help... YES, I WAS THAT DESPERATE!! But it all paid off in the morning, or specifically in the afternoon when I opened my e-mail. I was sooooooooooooooooo (take not of the o's please^_^) HAPPY that the customer service worked!! they sent me my ATT!! Relief flooded though me, I thanked all those that I called that night for a quick answer to my prayers! God truly is the Greatest!! ^_^ After that, we called Pearsonvue for our scheduling of the exam. We decided it would be on JUNE 18, 2010. We picked it up because of its the BIRTHDAY of our Taiwanese IDOL S.H.E. ELLA CHEN JIA HUA!! And no, its not only for that reason. We heard that the Number 8 is a lucky number. We figured that June 8 would be too early and June 28 would be too late, so June 18 is just right and an additional bonus id that it's Ella's birthday! If you're not familiar with Ella google her! I'm sure you will like her personality and she has a great talent. (enough of her.. maybe next time I'll Blog about her!! ^__^)

And so this was how we prepared for battle~~ tune in for my next blog for the continuation of my exciting adventure~~ <3

TiRiNg but fRuItFuL DaY

Last January 2010, I and my friend Jhosel Mendrique aka http://jhosel.blogspot.com/ went to Manila, Philippines to get our cards "finger printed" at an NBI office. We have an NBI office here in our place but for international cases we need to go to our National Office, so its in Manila. Its for our application in taking the NCLEX-RN examination, yeah~ 2 years after graduating i just now decided to take d NCLEX~ tsk tsk tsk~ My aunt told me to take it after i graduate or after i got my license, but NaieOU~ i waited for like 2 yrs for me to decide this~ anyway.. i'm out of line AGAIN~ hehehehe~

So... There we were we took the BUS to Manila at night bcoz of our duty schedules. We got there at around 6am~ we almost got lost in Cubao.. It was a little bit dark coz the sun is has not risen yet. So we walked back and forth to find a place to eat coz we're starving. And guess what?! We found... dun dun dun dun.. KFC!! whhaaa... since our college days we really eat like to eat here with my friends. Jhosel said that when she has money she'll franchise KFC in our home town or anywhere~ Back to my story~ After we ate our full, we ride in the jeepney towards
Carriedo Plaza Building
Carriedo St., cor Estero Cegado and Sales St.
Quiapo, Manila

When we got there we first visited Quiapo Church and pray for guidance and to pray that we pass the Exam.... And we walked towards the building where NBI was held, there were people who approached us and try to sell us 'CEDULA' or Community Tax Certificate and kept telling us that the NBI office is not anymore in that building. At first, as we're from the PROVINCE, we did not believe him coz we thought maybe we're being fooled. So we went to the entrance of the building and ask the security guard if what the man told us were true. And had a shocking revelation!! The NBI office really was relocated to a Mall in Monumento~ o.O

whhhaaaa.... it was hard enough for us to got there without getting lost but we need to go to a place where neither of us know. We were so fortunate that there were a group of girls, we thought they were newly HS graduates~ i think 5 of them~ also went there to get NBI Clearance, they knew where and how to get there. So we asked them if we could tag along, they said yes! And thank God! if it weren't for them we'll have much difficulty locating the mall. They were so fast we almost lost them, but i was glad one of them kept looking back at us and making sure we're behind them =) God Bless her! We followed them to the MRT station and got off at Monumento... When we got there we noticed that there were signs pointing us to the NBI office, I'm glad someone thought of it!! And so we arrived at the Mall at around 8am or quarter to 8~

It was just 8am but there are sooooooooooo (note the "o's" please) many people entering the Mall, even though the stalls weren't open... The office was located at the 5th floor.. and i noticed that most of the people are walking fast towards the 5th floor~ it was like a MARATHON~<3 it was soooo fun to watch!!! some are almost running!! the 5 girls were just ahead of us but they were also hurried to go to the 5ht floor!! So when we got there, o.O i was awed so so so so so many people i estimated 250 to 300 people?! and it was still early.. we thanked the girls and went our way! we saw 8 or 11 windows for filling things, and on each windows there are many people lining up!! The girls went immediately to window 1, we were figuring out where we'll go, and we estimated the maybe we could finish at 12pm or 1pm with all those people ahead of us. But we can't find a window that says finger printing so we asked one of the people who were distributing forms for NBI Clearance where the finger printing area were. He asked us if it was local or international, we said obviously, international.. and we were pointed to the furthest area wherein it said INTERNATIONAL---- oops~ i guess we missed that on our way up!! And so we asked one woman who was wearing an ID for NBI where is the finger printing for NCLEX were. She pointed us to a door and we went inside. There we were asked to sign our names and pointed us to another door (seriously what's with the pointing us to doors?! O.O) and we were asked to find this certain person~ i forgot the name~ Juan? Pedro? LOL. So we went inside and located the person and ask us to que in his "booth", coz there were several persons who are doing the finger printing stuff.. i guess this person is so skilled in this that he handles all international forms(coz u know it shud not be folded or dirtied). After that we paid 25 + 5(for the gauze with alcohol or WIPES). Geeeeesh!! We went to Manila for this measly thing, the BUS fare was much more than this finger print thing!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! We were Finished before 9:30am!! whhaaa... we really thought that it would take us like half a day to to this!!

So i txted my cousin in Manila that we were done and if she has the time we could hang out! Coz we were going home that night! YES you've READ it RIGHT! We were just there 24 hours!! and the nxt day we have our duty at the hospital!! =) My cousin said that she can't meet us until 12pm~ so we have time in our hands!! We went back to Quiapo Church to pray and visit the 'HINULID' the suffering Christ. We took pics but one guard stopped us, there were many who were doing it why just us! we reasoned that we came from the province and its the 1st time we visited, but he was stern. So we just prayed quietly (and took pictures without his knowledge) hehehehehehehehe!!

After that we went to the MRT and got off at Shaw Boulevard to meet up with my cousin!! Then we went to Mega Mall for our Lunch!! tnx to my ATE!! :) we ate at a Japanese Restaurant that she likes!! it was yummy!! =) Then after that she has to go to work!! Bye bye! the meet was so SHORT!! i teared up a little coz i haven't seen her in awhile and it was just too short!! Anyway glad i met with her!! <3

Whhhhaaa.. we have sooo much time left so we went MALL HOPPING! Mega Mall, Shangrilla Mall, SM North Edsa, and one i forgot! And at 6pm we went back to Cubao and another round of mall hopping!! hehehehehehehe~~ We ate at Ali Mall for our dinner (Jollibee). and by 8pm we went ot the bus station for our bus ticket and ride the bus. At 8:30 we were on our way home!! whhhaaa... what a tiring but fruitful day!! =)

Its been a long While... oooooppppssss...

My last post was like almost... well... a year ago.. i was soooo busy with things; namely, my career. This day last year was like a vacation for me. I had no idea where i was going and what other things i will encounter. Last June 2009, i finally figure out my goals. I entered a Skills Enhancement training in a certain hospital... it went for about 4 months.
There were Three Hundred Nurses that showed up in our orientation. It was said to be the biggest number of trainees they had. So they decided to split us into two groups and let the second batch enter after 2 months have pass. The training has 2 parts, the first one is in the general ward, wherein patients are not that critical in this area we spend our 1st 2 months and the second part is spent in the Special areas wherein patients need more care and expertise.

So... as i've said, they grouped us into 2 and decided which of the groups would be the 1st batch... we'll the 19th batch to be exact. And i was with the 1st group... i was so relieved to hear my name being called.. i thought i would be spending another 2 months DOING NOTHING... i i hated that feeling.. its like you're not being productive with your life. So the story goes...
Before we were designated in our own respective areas, i have an inkling to where i would be assign.. and i know it involves CHILDREN... because i'm always surrounded by them.. not in a weird way.. like when i go to church or malls or anywhere.. there would be children around..(i know im kinda PARANOID.. but believe me.. ask my laopos.. they know what im taking about..) well, in all honesty i love children... they symbolize many things... innocence.. pure of heart... pure of mind.. very trusting?! maybe not all are trusting.. of course they're afraid of strangers..

As I was saying, before i blabber about WORLD PEACE... I had this idea in mind that i would be assigned to PEDIATRIC WARD.. So i was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited (take note of the '0' ) to wear white, i woke up at 4 am to bathe and be prepared to begin my duty.. I arrived at the hospital 30 minutes before the said time.. (how lame was i.. tsk tsk tsk..) well to make the story a little bit short.. the 'gathering' started at 10 am... can you believe that?! i was so excited i went there at 7:30am and they started almost 2 hours after the said time.. tsk tsk tsk.. its called "THE FILIPINO TIME"... i wouldn't want to say it but what the heck.. its true anyways... I remember in college when we call for meetings and such we would announce the time 1 hour early before the real meeting will proceed or else they would be super late.. heheheehhehehe... oopsss... im out of line again.. where was it? ohh... the time.. so there we were in a crowded room.. we're almost 120 nurses and there was no damn AC.. gosh.. we were grouped alphabetically... then... dan dan dan dan... the training officer was calling groups to be allocated?! to the areas.. whaaaa....

And our group was called... dan dan dan dan... we were assigned to the OB-GYNE Ward... tsk tsk tsk tsk... whaaaa... just kidding.. we actually got the PEDIATRIC ward.. Imagine?! Instincts bore true! yey! so we were 15 in our group etc. etc. here are some pix!!

Whhhaaaa... so much memories down memory lane... we'll you may be wondering where we were "thrown" after the 2 months is up.. well we were all just getting to know one another(sobrang cheesy:D)... so were just doing that when 2 months is up.. we were all called in the auditorium for evaluation and to be re-assigned to the special areas... well we couldn't care less, we thought it would be the same groupings so we were so surprise to hear that we were to be split again and be regroup with others... well 10 of us were retained in the Pedia Ward because they were assigned in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or PICU.. and the remaining 5 of us were at our new area... dan dan dan dan... the NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT... whhaaaaaa.... super small children.. I mean NEW BORNS.. whhaaaa... they're cute and everything but my first thought was they were fragile and i was not prepared... but after awhile.. like 3 hours later.. hehehehehe.. i was sort of accustomed to it.. really how fast was that.. the BABIES did it.. one look at their angelic faces i was drawn to them.. they are sooooo CUTE.... well just to prove it to you.. here are some of my hundreds of pix.. YES your heard it right.. i mean your eyes didn't deceive you.. i typed HUNDREDS... heheheehhe.. you could see 200 of them in my FACEBOOK ALBUM.. here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=profile&id=1036292389#!/album.php?aid=2032317&id=1036292389

Well after my training, i applied in a program that our Congressman has.. its a Specialty Employment Program.. it has a stipend of 5k plus.. but as we were "hired", the Cong. got help from DOLE which is our Department of Labor and Employment with a budget of 2MIL.. So we were given a chance to experience an 8K stipend for 3 months.. I started in November of 2009 up until last month February of 2010... Do you know WHY???????? Weyo??

Well... this Program only allows nurses who passed the NCLEX or IELTS exams... well.. since i was training for those 2 months i wasn't able to take either one of them.. so I promised to do it this year to stay in the program... so i have to review.. and have a force leave this MARCH.. huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu... i was looking forward to work this March.. whhhhhhhaaaaaaa..... well.. what's done is done... And we've started our review Yesterday.. March 8, 2010... and I'm gonna be taking my NCLEX maybe by the end of May or 1st week of June.. Please pray for me Guys!!! THANK YOU!!
